Our June jubilation starts with Ben Kueter (U20 - 125kg) and Patrick Kennedy (U23 - 79kg) winning the U20 & U23 World Team Trials titles in Geneva, OH!
Ben Kueter, a 2022 U20 World Champion at 97 kg, looks to earn his second age-group World gold medal in Pontevedra, later this year.
Patrick Kennedy dominated 2023 U23 74kg Nationals champion Julian Ramirez of Spartan Combat RTC/Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. Kennedy secured both wins by technical fall, each with a 10-0 score, controlling the offense in the championship series.
Kueter is a rare D1 dual sport athlete competing in both football and wrestling for the Hawkeyes. Following making his second World Team, Ben announced he’s transitioning into a full-time wrestling role to pursue a second U20 World title and an NCAA championship. “To meet these goals will require my full attention for the next 10 months, but this is not the end of my football career,” Kueter wrote on social media. “I will start back up in spring ball.”
